Privacy Policy

NewsBuster.AI ("we", "our", "us") is built by people who actually care about privacy. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what we don't do with it. We keep it plain — no legalese walls.

What we collect

Phone number. We use it to send you a one-time password and to identify your account. We never sell it or use it for marketing without your permission.

Claims you submit. The text, URLs, or images you submit for fact-checking are processed by our AI pipeline to generate a verdict. We store these to build your personal history and to improve our models. We do not share individual claims tied to your identity with third parties.

Usage data. We collect anonymised logs — which features you use, how often, what type of checks you run. This helps us improve the product. None of it is sold.

Device info. Basic stuff — OS version, app version, device model. Needed for bug fixes and compatibility.

What we don't collect

• We don't ask for your name, email, date of birth, or any personal identifiers beyond your phone number.
• We don't track your location.
• We don't read your contacts, messages, or any other apps on your device.
• We don't use your data to show you personalised ads from third parties.

How we use your data

• To authenticate you via OTP (MSG91)
• To run fact-checks through our AI pipeline (Anthropic Claude, Tavily, Google Fact Check API)
• To maintain your history, check quota, and bonus credits
• To process payments (Razorpay — they have their own privacy policy)
• To send you optional product updates if you opt in

Third-party services

We use the following third parties who may process parts of your data under their own privacy policies:

• MSG91 — OTP SMS delivery
• Anthropic — AI processing of claims
• Tavily — Web search for fact verification
• Razorpay — Payment processing
• Supabase — Database hosting (Mumbai region)
• Upstash — Rate limiting and caching (Redis)

We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any advertising trackers.

Data retention

Free plan check history is retained for 7 days. Pro plan history is retained indefinitely until you delete it. If you delete your account, all associated data is purged within 30 days.

Your rights

You can request a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, or delete your account entirely — email us at privacy@newsbuster.ai. We'll respond within 7 business days.

Children

NewsBuster.AI is not directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 13.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes, we'll notify you in the app before they take effect. The "last updated" date at the top will always reflect the current version.
